SOLACE Aims
- To reduce the harm caused to Individuals, families and communities by the misuse of alchohol
- A strategy for Supportive Opportunities while Living with Addiction in a Community Environment
- The SOLACE project will provide a service that will accept, respond to and be flexible to the needs of both MALE and FEMALE heavy drinkers in our community.
- Our intention is to improve the quality of life for our clients, the family and the community. We will also help to make the existing support services more readily available.
In conjunction with the Western Drug & Alcohol Co-ordination Team, Sperrin Lakeland Trust, N.I. Housing Executive, we will endeavour ro accomplish the objectives:
- Ecourage a responsible attitide to drinking
- Promote effective treatment services
- Protect individuals in the community from alcohol related harm using harm reduction methods
- Develop a research and information pack
- Implement and manage the strategy effectively
Advocacy/Briefing: The SOLACE centre will act as an honest broker for all clients to make all services more readily available.
Assessment: The WHO (World Health Organisation) Audit Tool is used primarily. This is followed up with the Alcohol Outcome Spider.
Home Visiting: The development officer, along with the floating support will, where necessary, monitor the well-being of all clients in their home setting.
Sevices Available
SOLACE centre opening hours: Monday - Friday : 9am - 5pm
Meal Service available:- Tea/Coffee : Available all day, Breakfast : 9:15am - 10:45am & Lunch : 12 noon - 2:30pm
Recreation : Pool, Darts, Board Games
Programmes : Cook it, Gardening, Woodwork, Food Management, Basic Computing, Fishing
Referrals: The SOLACE centre will act as a sign post for clients to access all the relevant services available within the statutory and voluntary sectors. The centre will accept self referral and referrals from other agencies. The SOLACE centre will also interact will all local community groups.
